"Dancer and Drummer" Artists usually save their sketch pads, I cetainly do. They contain the raw materials of all my paintings. These two individuals came from a 1980's sketchbook that I took along on a sketching trip to the Eskimo village of Gambell on St. Lawrence Island . The drum is a streched piece of walrus stomach wrapped over a bent piece of wood. The drummer beats on the rim of the drum with a stick. Any occasion will do for dancing and drumming. Rie Muņoz
